Reflective Tree
構造設計
Reflective Treeは、六本木ヒルズの屋内広場に設置されたインスタレーション作品です。高さ約7mのツリーは、10層に分割された回転機構と約500本の枝、約2700枚の鏡面素材によって構成されています。中央の幹から放射状に伸びる繊細な枝の先端にはミラーフィルムが取り付けられ、光を反射・拡散させることで幻想的な空間を生み出しています。
構造計画では、建物躯体へ固定できない条件のもと、地震時の転倒に対して基礎重量のみで安定性を確保しました。また、重機を使用できない施工条件に対応するため、部材を人力で搬入可能な単位に分割し、現場で組み立てる構成を提案しています。枝先のたわみ量は構造解析によって調整し、自然の樹木のような軽やかな表情を生み出す要素として活用しました。構造が安全性を担保するだけでなく、作品の造形や光の演出を支える骨格となることで、アートとエンジニアリングが融合した空間の実現に寄与しています。
Reflective Tree is an installation created for an indoor public space at Roppongi Hills. Standing approximately 7 meters tall, the tree is composed of ten rotating layers, around 500 branches, and approximately 2,700 reflective elements. Delicate branches radiate from the central trunk, scattering and reflecting light to create an immersive and dreamlike atmosphere.
The structural design was developed under the constraint that the installation could not be anchored to the existing building. Stability against seismic forces was therefore achieved solely through the weight of the base. To accommodate the construction conditions, the structure was divided into components that could be carried and assembled by hand on site. Structural analysis was also used to calibrate the deflection of the branches, allowing them to achieve a natural, tree-like expression. In this project, the structure serves not only as a means of support, but also as a framework that shapes the installation’s form and light effects, contributing to the realization of an installation where art and engineering are seamlessly integrated.
